Spring is here, and so is the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) for the city of Jacksonville. This year, Hope joined in to support the cause for the first time by participating in the Women’s Center of Jacksonville (WCJ) Annual Kickball Tournament to bring awareness, and raise money to support survivors of sexual assault for the organization.
The tournament was an all-out competitive frenzy that ended with our team coming in 2nd place this year. Not bad for the team’s first entry. More importantly, this year’s tournament helped raise over $5,000 to support the cause. Mallory Warner, WCJ’s Advocacy and Prevention Director, was thrilled about the tournament and commented about how great this tournament has been throughout the years. “It’s wonderful to come together as a community to raise awareness, bring in some money [to help survivors that are not funded through our grants], and have fun while doing it!”
The hope team looks forward to competing next year, and hopefully, bring home the trophy!
