Hope’s Overview
Since we were founded in 2011 by Pablo Pella, MD and Ivan Guerrero, MD, we have provided diagnosis, treatment, medical care, case management, wholistic wellness and social services for people living with, exposed to, and/or at risk of Hepatitis C, HIV, STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). Drs. Guerrero and Pella recognized a need for non-judgmental, timely, high quality, wholistic and comprehensive patient services.
By using a case management model with a combined focus on medicine and the social determinants of healthcare, HOPE has been able to work both with our own resources and collaboratively with local, regional, state, federal and international organizations to provide services for patients regardless of their race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or ability to pay. Through our efforts we help our patients avoid health crises that result in Emergency Room visits, hospitalizations, and read missions.
Also, through our collaborative assistance programs, patient services often transcend the core medicine within our clinics and is multi-disciplinary/multi-specialty.
HOPE recognizes that patients’ partners and families are often seriously impacted by these diseases and often provides service for them as well. Since inception, we have provided services for patients and medical professionals in NE Florida, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, and Republic of Congo.
Preferred Funding is provided through insurance payments, donations, grants. Since 2017, the 340B Preferred Pharmacy Program was approved for patients served in the USA and its territories. The 340B Program is administered by the Office of Pharmacy Affairs within the Health Resources and Services Administration, and it provides funding generated from the drug discount received from the pharmaceutical manufacturers. (*340B is not a federally funded program.) In order to generate additional revenue for the general program services and our international programs, HOPE also relies on donations and grants.
